Welcome to your first lesson. To pass this driving lesson, you must hit the ball at least 200 yards and keep it in the fairway.\n\nAiming: To aim at your target, click and hold on the tail end of the onscreen arrow. Drag the arrow left and right until you're pointed in the direction you'd like to hit the ball.\n\nStarting the swing - To start your swing, move the cursor over or near the golfer's club. The cursor will change to a swing arrow. Click the left mouse button to start the swing.
Back swing - Pull the mouse back as straight as possible until your golfer has completed the desired amount of back swing. A longer back swing will typically result in longer shots. You can use the ESCAPE key to cancel your backswing.
The Downswing - Push the mouse forward to complete the downswing. The speed of your downswing controls the power with which the golfer will hit the ball, and the direction will dictate whether the club is moving right-to-left or left-to-right when the club meets the ball. A tip for developing a smooth, consistent swing is to watch your Golfer as you move the mouse during your swing. If you move your mouse forward with too much speed, you will likely see the Golfer on-screen execute a poor follow-through.
To pass this lesson, chip the ball from the fairway onto the green.
Putt the ball into the hole and you'll pass this lesson.
To pass this lesson, use the bump and run shot to roll the ball up onto the green.
To pass this lesson, use the punch shot to stay under the obstacle and land the ball on the green.
To pass this lesson, use the high spin shot to land the ball on the green and spin it towards the pin.
To pass this lesson, use the flop shot to land the ball on the green.
To pass the lesson, hit it out of the sand and keep it on the green. You'll want to adjust the slider to hit a pick shot to get it to the green.
To get past this lesson, hit a drive 275 yards or further.
A lesson could not be found.
TrueSwing"! (v)
TrueSwing"! (h)
3-Click
This is the TrueSwing"! Analyzer. It will help you to refine your swing.
While TrueSwing"! (v) is the recommended method of game play for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2003, you also have the option to play the game using the classic 3-Click swing mechanic or TrueSwing"! (h). After the 3-Click portion of the lesson you will have the option to toggle through and try all of the available swing methods. Would you like to try another method?
Ok. Let's move on to the chipping lesson.
Ok. Let's go on to the putting lesson.
Use the swing toggle icon to switch back and forth between TrueSwing"! and 3-Click.
You have selected the TrueSwing"! method of game play for your career mode golfer, you will not be able to change this setting once you begin your career mode. You will have to restart a new career mode character if you wish to change your swing type.
To begin your swing, position the mouse over the golfer and either click the left mouse button or press the spacebar to start the swing.
A green bar will begin to fill the swing gauge, when it reaches the 12 O-clock position, click the left mouse button or spacebar again to begin the downstroke of your swing. A red line, called the power line, indicates how close to 100% power your swing will be (if your gauge moves over the 12 O-clock position, you will exceed 100% power at the expense of control).
Once you click for your power line, the swing gauge will begin to descend to the 6 0-clock position. The line there is called the ball impact line. When the gauge reaches the ball impact line, click the left mouse button or spacebar to complete the swing. The closer you are to the ball impact line, the more likely you are to hit the sweet spot of the ball. If you come up short or over the ball impact line, you will hook or slice your shot.
Choose Control Method
You now need to select your preferred swing method for you Career Mode golfer. Choose either TrueSwing"! (V), TrueSwing"! (H), or 3-Click from the buttons below, or click More Practice to continue hitting. Once selected, you will not be able to change this setting once you begin your career mode. You will have to restart a new career mode character if you wish to change your swing type.
More Practice
You have selected the %s control method. Click Ok to continue or Cancel to choose a different method.
To pass the lesson, hit it out of the sand and keep it on the green. You'll want to adjust the slider to hit a blast shot to keep it on the green.
Well done, let's move on to the sand pick lesson now.
Congratulations, you've passed the lesson. Click ok to return to career mode main menu, or click cancel to practice another shot.
Did you know that you can take a sand lesson and learn to control the distance you hit your sand shots? In the career mode menu, select "Golf Lesson" and choose "Sand"
A bump and run shot could help you out in situations where you're off the green but have a long way to the pin. To learn the bump and run shot, from the Career Mode main menu, select "Golf Lesson" and choose "Bump and Run"
A flop shot is a good shot when you need to get the ball up in the air and onto the green, without rolling it past the pin. To learn the flop shot, from the Career Mode main menu, select "Golf Lesson" and choose "Flop Shot"
To learn how to add some additional spin to your approach shot, go to the Career Mode main menu, select "Golf Lesson" and choose "High Spin"
To learn how to add some extra power to your shot, go to the Career Mode main menu, select "Golf Lesson" and choose "Power Shot"

The graphic shows the position and path of the club at impact with the ball. The position of the club
shows where the clubface struck the ball. The red lines show the path of the mouse through
backswing and forward swing. The text on the left provides more detail on the shot.

BALL FLIGHT
Ball Flight describes the path the ball will travel in the air. If you hit the ball on the heel of the
club, it will read, 'Pull'. This means the ball will start left of the direction you are aiming if you
are a right-handed player. If you hit on the toe, it will read, 'Push', which means the ball will start
right. If you slide your mouse left while you push forward to hit the ball, it will read, 'Slice'. This
means the ball will spin to the right in the air if you are a right-handed player. If you slide to the
right, it will read, 'Hook', which meansthe ball will spin to the left. Errors in your swing will have
less effect when you play on the easier levels. Many combinations are possible. If Ball Flight reads,
'Pull - Fade' the ball will start left and then spin back to the right. Other factors like wind and
side-hill lies may vary the Ball Flight.
CLUB SPEED
Club Speed describes the speed you moved your mouse forward to hit the ball. 100% will hit the
ball the distance your club reads in ideal conditions. Over-swinging creates risk and will
exaggerate your swing errors. Reducing the length of your backswing will also reduce club speed.
IMPACT
Impact describes the position of your club at impact with the ball. Picture the ball at the spot on
your mouse pad where you click to start the swing. If you do not return your mouse to this
position after your backswing, you will hit the heel or the toe of the clubface and pull or push the
ball. This will cause the ball to start left or right of the direction you are aiming.
TEMPO
TrueSwing"! rewards a smooth paced mouse swing. Long delays at the top of your backswing
will cause slow tempo. Moving your mouse too slowly or too quickly will cause slow or fast tempo.
Slow tempo will reduce the distance your ball goes. Fast tempo will exaggerate the 'Impact' and
'Club Path' errors in your swing. Be sure to match the shaft type of your golfer to your preferred
tempo. If you like to swing faster, choose 'Stiff' shafts. Choose 'Senior' shafts if you swing slower.
CLUB PATH
Club Path describes the path you move your mouse on while you push forward to hit the ball. If
you are right-handed and you slide to the left, it will read 'Outside-In' and the ball will fade or slice
to the right in the air. If you slide to the right, it will read 'Inside-Out' and the ball will draw
or hook to the left. Sliding left or right in Career Mode will have no effect unless you select
'Shot Shaping' on the 'Attributes' screen.

[1 to 4 players] Play is based on stroke totals. Player with the lowest score at the end of play wins. With PGA TOUR opponents selected, tournament rules are in effect (no side games allowed). In addition to any human or computer players, you are also competing against a full field of virtual PGA TOUR pros.
[2 players required] One on One golf. Two players compete against each other. The better of the two scores recorded on each hole (fewest strokes) wins 1 point. Tie scores for the hole result in no points awarded for either player. The player with the most points wins the match.
[2 to 4 Players] Drive for Show, Putt for Dough. Each hole has a monetary value (the skin) that goes to the player that has the best score on that hole. If there is a tie then the skin is carried cumulatively forward to the next hole. Total purse and distribution for this event can be changed in the advanced tab.
[2 to 4 players] Compete against other players in various golf skills challenges. Challenges include: the long drive, closest to the pin, trouble shots, chipping contests. Players get 3 attempts in each skill. Distance or proximity to the hole determines the winner of the skill. Each skills challenge has a monetary value.
[2 to 8 Players] A short game where up to 8 players battle through up to 7 holes of golf. A starting hole is randomly chosen from the course selected and you play the next holes in sequence. At each hole the player with the worst score is eliminated. Ties are settled on each hole through a chip-off. Play continues 'til only 2 players remain. They shoot it out on that last hole to see who comes up on top.
[1 to 4 Players] Play is based on points for par totals per hole. Double bogey or worse is -3 points; Bogeys are-1, Pars are 0, Birdies are 2, Eagles are worth 5, and Double Eagles are 8. Player with the highest score at the end of play wins. With PGA TOUR opponents selected, tournament rules are in effect (no side games allowed).
[4 Players] Team Match Play with each player alternating drives at each hole. The player that does not drive hits the second shot. Play alternates until the ball is in the cup. The winner of the hole is the team with the fewest strokes. Each hole is worth 1 point. Tie scores for a hole result in no points awarded to either team. The team with the most points wins the match.
[4 Players] Team Match Play with each player teeing off on each hole. Each team chooses which of the 2 balls will be played. The player whose ball was not chosen hits the 2nd shot and the team alternates until the ball is in the cup. Each hole is worth 1 point. Tie scores for a hole result in no points awarded to either team. The team with the most points wins the match.
[4 Players] Team Match Play with each player teeing off on each hole. The opposing team chooses which of the 2 balls will be played. The player whose ball was not chosen hits the 2nd shot and the team alternates until the ball is in the cup. Each hole is worth 1 point. Tie scores for a hole result in no points awarded to either team. The team with the most points wins the match.
[2 or 4 Players] Players compete in teams of two with each player teeing off on each hole. Each team chooses which of the 2 balls will be played. Both team members then make their second shot from this point. Play continues this way until the ball is in the cup. The score is stroke based. The team with the lowest score wins.
[4 or 8 Players] Players compete in teams of four with all players teeing off on each hole. Each Team chooses which of the 4 balls will be played. All team members then make their second shot from this point. Play continues this way until the ball is in the cup. The score is stroke based. The team with the lowest score wins.
[4 Players] Play is based on stroke totals. Players compete in teams of two. The lower of the two scores recorded on each hole counts as the team score for the hole. The team with the lowest score at the end of play wins.
[4 Players] Same as Match Play, except players compete in teams of two. Each hole is worth 1 point. The better of the two scores recorded on each hole counts as the team score for the hole and wins the point. The team with the most points at the end of play wins the match.
[4 Players] Play is based on points for par totals per hole. Players compete in teams of two. Double bogey or worse is -3 points; Bogeys are -1, Pars are 0, Birdies are 2, Eagles are worth 5, Double Eagles are 8. 29717 [1 to 4 players] Play is based on stroke totals. Player with the lowest score at the end of play wins.
[2 to 4 Players] A short game where up to 4 players battle through up to 3 holes of golf.

Chip Description
Putt Description
The bump and run is a low trajectory chip shot which spends little time in the air, and rolls to the pin. It is effective when you have a lot of green between your ball and the pin.
A punch shot is very useful when you find yourself needing to hit a low trajectory shot to stay underneath an obstacle such as a tree.
Take this lesson to be able to add back spin to your approach shot. High spin shots are very useful when the pin is at the front of the green.
A flop shot is a great shot when you need a high trajectory shot to get the ball over a tree or hill, but don't want it to roll off the green.
Take this lesson to increase your distance control in the sand. You'll learn the differences between picking it out of the sand, and blasting it out of the sand.
Take this lesson to increase the distance you hit the ball off the tee. This shot will increase power, but can also decrease accuracy.

New Player Walkthrough
Welcome to career mode. This walkthrough will take you through the basics of career mode. If you've already done the walkthrough and don't want to do it again, just press cancel, otherwise, press continue to start the walkthrough.
The first thing you need to do is to create your player. You can give your player a name, and perhaps purchase some additional clubs or attributes. Remember to save some money for some tournaments and side bets!
Congratulations, you just created your career player, let's go to the Career Mode Main Menu.
This is the Career menu. This is the main screen you'll use to play your career. From here you can participate in tournaments, take lessons, see which trophy balls you've won, edit your golfer, or just go for some practice. First let's take you out for some lessons.
This is the shot lessons screen. Here you can pay to receive shot lessons and increase the number of different shots you can use in the game. For now, let's go learn about driving, chipping, and putting. However, you'll want to come back here and take all the lessons available, or certain shot types will be unavailable to you.
We hope you enjoyed your lessons. After the walkthrough you can choose the practice range option and go practice your shots. Someone may even challenge you to a competition while you're on the practice range. Before that though, let's take a look at the career calendar.
This is the career calendar, and is the main part of career mode. The calendar has icons of different colors on the days that events take place. Click on an icon to see details on the event. If you wish to participate in an event, click the "Begin Event" button on the details screen. This ends our career mode walkthrough. Good luck in becoming a PGA TOUR Master.
If you cancel the walkthrough you will miss some good information including the introductory lessons and the opportunity to specify your swing type. Are you sure you want to cancel the walkthrough?
